The Mine Jacket reflects Aviva Jifei Xue’s interest in combining familiar workwear with developed textiles. Drawing from old mining clothing and naval jackets, it has a wide body, a gently tapered waist and a semi-cropped length. A dropped armhole gives the jacket an easy, rounded shape.
Cut from heavyweight, argyle linen, the pattern is woven into the cloth, creating structural depth within the fabric. The weight of the linen gives the jacket a composed drape, with the breathability and strength of the fibre.
Horn buttons and utilitarian patch pockets complete the chore-jacket construction. With regular wear, the linen softens, and the fabric develops character.

ABOUT THE BRAND
Aviva Jifei Xue, a New York-based designer, launched her eponymous label in 2020, drawing deeply from her upbringing between Japan and China. A graduate of Parsons’ fashion design program in 2017, where she specialized in menswear, Xue’s work blends heritage with materiality. Natural fibres—hemp, wool, linen, and silk—are central to her collections, often naturally dyed and adorned with ceramic buttons as a nod to tradition. Her designs emphasize craft and old-world production techniques, utilising antique fabrics and custom-made textiles sourced from generational mills in Japan, resulting in pieces that celebrate timeless craftsmanship.
