We catch up with Another Aspect co-founders Daniel Brøndt, Anders Poulsen and Nicolaj Thomsen to highlight the philosophy behind the Copenhagen label, their approach to designing garments with longevity in mind, and the considered process that shapes each collection. From discovering forgotten fabrics in the archives of Italian mills to drawing inspiration from Copenhagen’s evolving music scene, the conversation explores their belief in creating less, but creating better — alongside a look at their favourite piece from the AW26 collection.

Another Aspect designs garments meant to last a lifetime, but fashion requires sales. How do you balancethe need to sell products with your mission of encouraging people to buy less?
For us, the idea of starting every collection from scratch and having to find a new source of inspiration each season has always been something we wanted to avoid, and creating garments just for the sake of it. Instead, everything we do is more or less a constant collection that’s moving. Hopefully, that mindset of not overdoing things, not creating endless fits and colors or trying to satisfy every possible need and sell you something we don’t believe you actually need, ultimately makes for a more considered purchase.
Does a new design start with a sketch that you then find the right fabric for, or does discovering a unique, responsible material completely dictate what the garment becomes?
It can go both ways, the collection is always an extension of our own wardrobe and what we feel is missing, and constantly moving. But sometimes we stumble upon a unique cloth that we feel should be included in the collection; that’s actually how our Made in Japan collection started. We got the chance to look at some Japanese fabrics in Tokyo and decided to produce the garment in Japan.
What is currently playing in the design studio, and how does music and art filter into the mood of Another Aspect?
Over the last couple of years, the music scene in Copenhagen has really been on the rise, so we've been listening to a lot of local friends like Snuggle, A Good Year, and Smerz. When we don’t want to think too much about what to put on, NTS Radio is usually playing in the background. That sets us up for a good day.
What’s the process of discovering a fabric that feels right for Another Aspect, and where have some of your favourite mills been?
We got access to some pretty good fabric houses in Italy, working with all the best from around the world. We are always looking forward to these trips through the mills, spotting a roll of fabric tucked away, leftover from someone else, passed by countless times.
Daniel, if you had to pick one of your favorite pieces or fabrics from this collection, which would it be?
For me, the Overshirt 3.0 in the Grey Check is very special. A deadstock brushed wool, with a touch of cashmere. It drapes very beautifully.
