Step In Time. Conversations With Kenny 'Sting' King

Sting is the man who founded the seminal Hardcore/Jungle raves Life Utopia and Telepathy. If you’re of a certain age, you might know his voice from pirate radio rave adverts, but you probably don’t know his name or what he looks like. Sting owned the iconic Stratford Rex venue and was involved with Déjà Vu FM radio station, now recognised as a cornerstone in the Garage and Grime scenes, launching countless crews and hosting numerous famous - and infamous on-air moments. And now he is the subject and the fuel of this new raw and real deal IDEA book. Alongside flyers from Sting’s personal collection are images from VHS tapes, recorded across multiple warehouse raves and club nights at the Wax Club and Club UN. Much of this has never been broadcast or made public before.

Originally founded as a Bookseller specialising in vintage publications to the fashion industry, London based IDEA have made a big impact on the fashion and photography publishing scene in what is an actual short time. Since publishing Gosha Rubchinskiy's zine in 2004, IDEA has published books with the likes of Willy Vanderperre, Vetements, Gucci, Terry Richardson, Palace Skateboards, Alasdair McLellan and Collier Schorr amongst others.
